Dominican Trial For The Woodlands Man Accused Of Drug Trafficking Delayed Again

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands man accused of narcotics trafficking by authorities in the Dominican Republic will have to wait at least one more month for his trial to begin, after the judge overseeing the case rescheduled the trial for the third time since his arrest.
Larry Davis, 44, has been sitting in jail since March 2016, when Dominican authorities arrested him on charges of international narcotics trafficking.
His trial was set to begin March 7, but was delayed when the court had issues with some of the witnesses and was reset.

On April 25, the trial was again delayed when one of the co-defendants became violently ill, forcing another reset.

The ordeal for Davis and his family began in February 2016, when the phone rang.
Authorities in the small island nation called Davis and told him the boat he’d leased to a Honduran businessman was being inspected.

A few hours later, Davis was on a plane to Santo Domingo and was arrested several days later as he was returning to the U.S.
Since then, representatives from Sen. John Cornyn’s Office and U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady’s office have been working unsuccessfully to free Davis.
Meanwhile, his family, and his legal team are anxious to get this trial underway and see Davis exonerated by Dominican authorities.
