Rainy Mother's Day Forecast For Illinois, But Dry Hours Possible

Although we'll likely get some rain and possibly storms on Mother's Day, temperatures will still be fairly warm all weekend.

ILLINOIS — If you have plans for an outdoor outing for Mother's Day, you may want to keep an eye on the forecast, as showers or storms may disrupt your plans.

The National Weather Service said there are chances of rain and storms during the weekend, although many dry hours are possible.

Although rain is in the forecast, temperatures will still be fairly warm all weekend. Friday has a high of 80, Saturday a high of 82, and Sunday a high of 76, according to the weather service.

Scattered showers and storms are possible on Friday morning, and there is also a chance in the afternoon. New rainfall could be between a quarter and a half-inch, according to the weather service forecast.

Chances of rain are lower on Saturday and Sunday. According to the weather service, there's a 20 percent chance on Saturday, and a 4o percent chance of showers on Sunday.

For Mother's Day, AccuWeather gave a high of 66 degrees on Sunday for Joliet, and an 80 percent probability of precipitation. The private forecaster predicted two hours of precipitation.
