'Hamilton' Movie Coming To Disney Plus On July 3
The surprise announcement means the film version of the original Broadway production is being released more than a year ahead of schedule.

NEW YORK —"Hamilton" won't be on a stage anytime soon, but now there's another option to watch the world-famous Broadway story about the life of Alexander Hamilton.
Disney announced Tuesday that it will stream a filmed version of the show beginning July 3 on Disney Plus.
The movie was filmed in 2016 with the original Broadway cast at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre.

Your shot to watch "Hamilton" is coming more than 15 months ahead of the previously announced Oct. 21, 2021, release date. The movie was initially to be released in theaters but now will most likely bypass them completely due to the new coronavirus crisis.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the show, announced the new date in a series of tweets Tuesday.

Disney executive chairman Robert Iger also took to Twitter on Tuesday to share his excitement about "Hamilton."
"We're thrilled to bring the extraordinary Hamilton Musical to Disney Plus on July 3," Iger tweeted. "In this very difficult time, this story of leadership, tenacity, hope, love & power of people to unite against adversity is both relevant and inspiring. Thank you Lin-Manuel!"
The July 3 release date doesn't seem accidental, as the show is about the founding of America, and July 4 is Independence Day in the United States.
"Hamilton" has won 11 Tony Awards, served as the jumping block for popular albums and multiple successful touring companies, and won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for drama.
It has grossed $650 million on Broadway.
People can download Disney Plus on its website for $6.99 a month, or get Hulu, Disney Plus and ESPN Plus for $12.99 a month.
