Man on Horseback Lassoes Alleged Bicycle Thief in Wal-Mart Parking Lot

The heroic man on horseback brought the thief to justice with a lasso.

EAGLE POINT, OR - A man attempting to steal a bicycle from a Wal-Mart parking lot in Oregon was lassoed by a man on a horse before he could make a getaway. 

The man was attempting to steal the bicycle when the woman whose bicycle it was called attention to the ongoing theft. A nearby man on a horse intervened and lassoed the suspect, holding him down until police arrived, KTVL reported. 

The hero on horseback was identified as Robert Borba or the "Long Ranger."

“I just roped him and the rope went down around his feet and I just rode off like I would if I’d roped a cow or something by myself,” Borba told a local news station. 

Borba, a professional cowboy, had stopped at the Wal-Mart to buy dog food when he encountered the theft.

"Can't make it up folks, a would be bicycle thief was lassoed in the Eagle Point Wal-Mart parking lot and taken into custody for theft. The bicycle was returned to the owner. Thanks Robert," Eagle Point police wrote on Facebook.
