'Purple Rain' Screening in Select Texas Theaters
Here's a list of AMC and Carmike theaters statewide that are screening the 1984 classic rock film in honor of the late, great Prince.

The sudden death of Prince on Thursday has prompted tributes worldwide. Movie theater chains are doing their part in honoring the late, great artist by re-releasing "Purple Rain" in select cities from April 23-28.
AMC and Carmike movie theater chains will be releasing the movie in tribute. The latter is releasing the movie in about 80 theaters across 24 states while the former will screen it at 87 of its theaters.
Some of those theaters are in Texas.
Carmike locations include:
- Lufkin Mall 9, Lufkin
- Carmike 14, Tyler
- Sikes 10, Wichita Falls
AMC will screen the movie in its theaters nationwide, including those in Houston and Dallas:

The movie spawned a seminal soundtrack and launched the late musician into superstardom. Many view the title track of the resulting album as the greatest song of the 80s.
Prince was bigger than life, a magnetic presence on stages worldwide. Starting this weekend, Prince fans still reeling over his death will be able to experience that outsize personality on the big screen.
