WASHINGTON, DC — Meghan McCain pulled no no punches after President Donald Trump once again attacked her late father, U.S. Sen. John McCain. Trump in a weekend tweetstorm criticized McCain for spreading what he called "the fake and totally discredited Dossier,"

McCain, who died in August, said in a statement in January 2017 that he received a copy of the dossier and had given the information to the director of the FBI. The documents suggested Russia coordinated to help the Trump campaign defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.

On Saturday, the president ripped McCain on Twitter, calling it a "very dark stain" against him. The president quoted Ken Starr (notably the independent counsel who investigated former President Bill Clinton) who used the same words in describing McCain's actions to Fox News. Trump also blasted McCain's now-infamous thumbs-down vote on a full repeal of Obamacare.

"He had far worse 'stains' than this," Trump tweeted, "including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!"

Meghan McCain came to her father's defense — and fired back at Trump. She tweeted in response: "No one will ever love you the way they loved my father."

Then on Monday, she went on "The View," armed with more barbs.

"Listen, he spends his weekend obsessing over great men because he knows it and I know and all of you know it: he will never be a great man," she said. "My father was his kryptonite in life, is his kryptonite in death."

Meghan McCain added that her father used to take the family cooking, hiking and fishing on the weekends, a stark contrast to Trump, who she said is "obsessed" with "great men" he could never live up to.

"That tells you everything you need to know about his pathetic life right now," said McCain.
