Shorter Timeline For COVID Booster Shots Under Consideration
Federal officials are weighing the possibility of reducing the time between the second and third shots to five months rather than eight.

WASHINGTON, DC — If you're hoping to get a COVID-19 booster shot, the wait for one could be shorter than originally anticipated.
Talks are underway among members of the Biden administration on whether booster shots should be given five months after second vaccine doses rather than the eight months previously discussed by public health officials, according to a report by Reuters.
Reasons for the possible change are unclear. Currently, the timeline for adults to receive a third dose of the vaccine remains eight months after their original inoculation. The United States plans to start administering booster shots for all adults starting Sept. 20, pending approval by the Food and Drug Administration and the CDC.
