SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In an effort to stand by new policies aimed at reducing anti-vaccine content, YouTube this week announced it will ban any video that claims approved, commonly used vaccines are ineffective or dangerous.

Google-owned YouTube had previously banned videos that made false claims about coronavirus vaccines; however, it did not take into account vaccines for other diseases like measles or chickenpox, according to a Washington Post report.

To cut down on misinformation, YouTube also banned several video channels associated with high-profile anti-vaccine activists. The ban included accounts for Joseph Mercola and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
