WASHINGTON, DC — President Donald Trump tweeted Monday that he will "strongly consider" testifying in writing as part of the impeachment inquiry, taking up a suggestion by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump also claimed that the rules of the inquiry had been “rigged” by Pelosi (D-CA) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-CA). Trump's tweets came as eight current and former officials were scheduled to publicly testify about his controversial actions regarding Ukraine.

Meanwhile, an additional inquiry emerged Monday about whether Trump lied to former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III during his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
