Jared Kushner Subject Of FBI Probe: Reports

FBI agents are looking into a series of meetings between Kushner and Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak and other Russians.

The FBI probe into interactions between associates of President Trump and Russian officials and Russian interference in the 2016 campaign has now reached just outside the Oval Office. Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and a senior adviser, is a focus of the investigation, according to reports by The Washington Post and NBC News.

The Post reported last week that the probe had reached a senior White House official. Reports say the FBI agents turned their eyes toward Kushner because of the number of contacts he had with Russian officials as well as the nature of those contacts.

"Mr. Kushner previously volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about these meetings," Jamie Gorelick, one of Kushner's lawyers, told the Post. "He will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry."

Watch: Kushner Reportedly Under FBI Scrutiny

The Post and NBC were careful not to say that Kushner is a target of the investigation, and sources who agreed to talk with Patch under the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss things related to the investigation say that is a key difference.

Because of his position in the campaign and the White House and his contacts with key players such as former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, investigators believe he may have information pertinent to the probe.

The New York Times reported last month that Kushner omitted several meetings with his Russian officials on his security clearance forms.

One of those meetings was in December when Kushner met with Kislyak. Flynn also attended that meeting. A second was with the head of a Russian government-owned bank that was arranged by Kislyak, according to the paper.
