Both of these composers approached the string quartet form with reverence and some intimidation, with the examples of Haydn and Beethoven looming over them. Brahms is said to have thrown over 20 string quartets into the fireplace before settling on this “No. 1,” and Prokofiev composed his “2nd” while an evacuee from Moscow as Nazi air raids bombarded the city.

Join 50+ companies and 1,500+ walkers and runners on Thursday, May 14, at Mill River Park for the Boys &amp; Girls Club of Stamford's annual 5K! Our flat, 5K course runs through Mill River Park and Downtown Stamford and is open to the public.
