The Bridgehampton Museum - Corwith House

  <td><p>The Bridgehampton Museum, located   at 2368 Montauk Highway, is pleased to present Uncharted Waters, a solo   exhibition of paintings by Mark Seidenfeld, on view June 4 through June 21,   2026. The exhibition inaugurates the Corwith Homestead Tractor Barn, a newly   renovated, contemporary exhibition space blended into the historic William A.   Corwith Homestead campus.</p>
<p>Seidenfeld’s paintings evolve from   earlier representational work into fully realized abstraction, where   landscape gives way to interior vision. These are not depictions, but   constructed ﬁelds—dreamscapes shaped through layering, interruption, and   revision.</p>
<p>Each work engages what the artist   identiﬁes as the Unknown: a condition that resists repetition and   continuously shifts. What is resolved in one painting becomes insufﬁcient in   the next. The work advances through this instability, with each painting   extending, rather than reiterating, the last.</p>
<p>A consistent pursuit of depth   underlies the practice. Surface is built, disrupted, and recalibrated,   producing compositions that hold tension without closure. Installed within   the scale and structure of the barn, the paintings activate the space as a   ﬁeld of perception.</p><p>Uncharted Waters establishes both the inaugural program of the Corwith Homestead Tractor Barn and a concentrated statement of Seidenfeld’s ongoing investigation into abstraction.</p></td>

The event showcases a variety of voices reading   their short personal essays, exploring how we define ourselves, our values,   our strengths and weaknesses. Sharing the first-person human condition brings   us together, with humor, with heartbreak, and with a goal of mutual   understanding.</p></td>

<p>The event is curated by Hamptons writer Heather Buchanan. Her column Kiss &amp; Tell was recently awarded Best Print Humor Column in the country by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Buchanan has also won awards from the Press Club of Long Island and the National Federation of Press Women. Previous spoken word events she has produced have been sell outs such as at Bay Street Theater and The Church in Sag Harbor and Greenwich Village.</p>

  <td><p>Join us for another summer of plein   air painting classes with the Bridgehampton Museum! This year our workshops   will be hosted by three different artists throughout the summer, giving all   of our students more opportunities to learn. These classes are for artists of   all abilities from beginners to professionals and will take place at a series   of beautiful locations within the Bridgehampton area. Join us to get hands on   with some history!</p>
<p>The Montauk   Point Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in New York State, commissioned by   President George Washington in 1792 and completed in 1796. Located at the   easternmost tip of Long Island, it has guided ships safely through the   Atlantic Ocean for more than two centuries. Today, it is a National Historic   Landmark and popular site featuring a museum and panoramic ocean views.</p></td>

<p>At the culmination of this program, The Bridgehampton Museum will be hosting an exhibition of works done by students in this class.   <td><p>What   happens when “The Wheels on the Bus” hops on board with the legendary sounds   of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis?</p>
<p>East   End Jazz is proud to announce the launch of “Tiny Toes &amp; The Jazz Crew,”   a groundbreaking, interactive concert series designed to bridge the gap   between early childhood playtime and the professional performing arts. This   multi-generational experience invites families to step into a world where   nursery rhymes blend seamlessly with jazz standards, proving that great music   knows no age limit.</p>
<p>“We   wanted to create a space where the next generation doesn’t just listen to   music, but feels it,” says Iris Ornig, Director of East End Jazz. “By pairing   familiar melodies with sophisticated jazz arrangements, we’re inviting   families to participate in the rhythm, movement, and spontaneous joy that defines   this art form.”</p>
<p>This   isn’t your average performance. The series transforms playtime into a   high-level artistic exchange, allowing children to experience jazz through   the lens of play. Led by a “Jazz Crew” of professional musicians from Long   Island and NYC, the ensemble serves as both performers and mentors, guiding the   audience through a journey of syncopation, scat-singing and instrumental   discovery.</p><p>Co-sponsored with the Bridgehampton Museum and East End Jazz.</p></td>

  <td><p>Learn the ancient technique of   encaustic painting which dates to the Greeks. Students will be led by teacher   and artist Bonnie Rychlak to learn the basics of this ancient craft that   involves using hot wax and pigments to create something of a mixture between   painting and sculpting. Through demonstrations, discussion and exploration,   students will discover its endless possibilities for making art.</p><p>There is a class size limit of 10 students and students will be expected to come to all five classes. All materials will be supplied for this class.</p></td>

<p>Wheeler-Brown’s book explores the history of Delftware ceramics, focusing on the often-overlooked roles of women as makers, patrons, and collectors, from 17th-century factory owners like&nbsp;<strong>Barbara Rotteveel</strong>&nbsp;to <strong>Gilded Age</strong> collectors like&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan</strong>. A must for devotees of decorative arts and the history of material culture. </p>

<p><strong>GENEVIEVE WHEELER BROWN</strong></p>
<p>Founding Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory in 2003, Genevieve comes to the advisory business with more than 12 years of experience in the auction world, strong generalist knowledge and a wide range of contacts in American, European and Asian decorative and fine arts.</p>
<p>Genevieve began her career with Christie’s in 1992 with the European Decorative Arts Department after working as an intern at The Phillips Collection, Washington D.C. in 1990. She was then asked to run Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, a department that handled inquiries for European based auctions including Indian and Southeast Asian art, Islamic Art, Miniatures, Textiles and Cameras. In 1995 Genevieve became the New York contact for sales of Fabergé and Russian Silver at Christie’s Park Avenue and most recently was as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from 1998 to 2003.</p>
<p>While at Christie’s, she was involved with important sales such as ‘The Pine Cone Egg’ by Carl Fabergé and ‘The Taft’ Stradivari which fetched the auction record for an instrument sold in the United States. She has also been an appraiser on the PBS production ‘The Antiques Roadshow’.</p>
<p>A supporter of several fine and decorative art related institutions, Genevieve has served on the Board of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, served as a member of the Young Fellows Steering Committee of the Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005 and co-Chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collector’s Night, New York in 2004, 2005, and 2006.</p>
<p>Genevieve currently advises several organizations including <a href="https://www.dumbartonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dumbarton House</a>, a Federal period house museum in Georgetown, as a board member as well as for <a href="https://www.thewintershow.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Winter Show</a> as a vice-chair of Opening Night and as co-founder of The Winter Show Luncheon.</p><p><strong>About The Jay Heritage Center</strong></p>
