A great class for beginners! Create
 a “propagation station” to root your plant cuttings or elegantly show 
off a single flower. Choose from a large selection of pre-cut premium 
quality art glass in a myriad of colors. No glass cutting is required in
 this beginner-level workshop. Clear plastic tube can be easily removed 
to clean or change water. Approx. size: 5” x 7”. Come make one of your 
own! Be sure to bring your lunch with you. There will not be enough time to get food off-site. Please note: sufficient

Create a single-color linocut and print it on cotton, linen, or denim. This is the perfect way to create a truly unique piece!
This beginner-friendly class is
 an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest
 forms of printmaking. We will explore types of carving blocks, inks, 
and papers, and you will learn how to transfer your design and carve and
 ink the block. You will then handprint your design on fabric. Bring two
 items of clothing with you to print. For best results, clothing should 
be made of cotton, denim, or linen.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 make stained glass honeycombs! We'll create a sparkly suncatcher to 
hang in a window and celebrate our pollinators. Are you a first-timer? 
No worries! You will be taught to cut, grind, foil, and solder stained 
glass to create your piece. This half-day class is for beginners and 
experienced stained glass artists alike. Finished piece: 4” diameter.

<ul><li>Basic 2D sketching with constraints</li><li>Extrude</li><li>Revolve</li><li>Loft</li><li>Solid boolean operations (union, subtract difference)</li></ul>
Don't worry if you don't know these terms; this is a fun entry-level class! We'll teach you the lingo.
Each student must bring a laptop computer running modern Windows, Linux, or Mac OS and a real mouse. Doing CAD with a touchpad is next to impossible. Students must have Google Chrome browser installed.

introduction to the printing press (certification for members)
This beginner-friendly class is
 an introduction to the relief process, the technique used in the oldest
 forms of printmaking. By creating a single-color linocut print, you 
will learn the basics of relief printing. We will explore types of 
carving blocks, inks, and papers, and you will learn how to prepare your
 carving block, transfer your design, and carve and ink the block. You 
will make several prints, both by handprinting and using the printing 
press. (After this class, members will be certified to use the press for
 relief printing.)
Please read through the relief printing handout (found<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZIdbivWF_zVy7_nQBSp9lS8wLMfvIbBH/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> here</a>) before class, and bring a simple design no larger than 5x8 inches. A good beginner design has a bold image, thick lines, and no fine details.
 Keeping it simple will help you avoid frustration and allow you to 
focus on the fundamentals of printmaking. You can find some great ideas 
by searching for free black and white vector art. Several design options
 will also be available to choose from in class.
Certification for Members: Printing Press&nbsp;
Members who demonstrate proper use of the printing press can be certified for independent access to the tool.

The 44th Annual WICC Surfside Hotel <a href="https://www.bluefishtournament.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth</a> returns to Long Island Sound on Saturday, August 29, with fishing officially beginning at 12:01 a.m. Anglers from Connecticut and New York will compete for bragging rights—and a $25,000 grand prize awarded to the tournament's largest bluefish.
The weekend-long tournament features more than $40,000 in total cash prizes, including:
<ul>
 <li>1st Place: $25,000</li>
 <li>2nd Place: $7,500</li>
 <li>3rd Place: $2,500</li>
 <li>Smaller cash prizes awarded through 20th Place</li>
 <li>Port Prizes awarded for the heaviest bluefish weighed at each official Connecticut and New York weigh station (see below for complete list of weigh stations)</li>
</ul>
Young anglers, 17 and under, will also have the chance to win big. The tournament will award a $1,000 cash prize to the largest bluefish caught by a youth angler. Second and third place youth winners will receive $100 gift cards.
