Single Mommin' It!, Neighbor

I have managed to raise my son completely on my own, never having asked a single soul for help. That is my proudest achievement. And what a wonderful son I have. I worked long hours for the past ten years saving for our first home. I did it! A two bedroom cottage with a little front porch. It was the right price but needed lots of work. So, I hired a local contractor. The next thing I knew, the local contractor had stolen credit cards and checks emptying my account of a total of $20,000. that I had saved up to fix the house.

Because the money was stolen, I could not replace the home's damaged pipes or purchase new kitchen appliances that I had saved so long for. I had no choice but to sell the home I had just purchased. My son and I are now looking for apartments to rent. I no longer have the home or the savings.

I am still working hard every day but my income is not enough for rent. And I can't afford my son's class trip to Yosemite National Park this year.
