While there are no fireworks, families can enjoy shopping at Tanger National Harbor, a outdoor screening of Back to the Future, and a Super Hero Summer experience at Gaylord National Resort.

During July, the McLean Art Gallery presents “America at 250,” a new special exhibition from the nonprofit McLean Art Society celebrating our country’s milestone birthday. Also featured are more than 180 new works from 45 local artists, including paintings in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and mixed media; drawings; photography; sculpture; and works in wood, glass, ceramics and jewelry.Join us for the Opening Reception on July 3rd, 5-7pm to enjoy art, live music, wine, and light refreshments! Free and Open to the public. Plenty of free parking.

The show runs from July 1 - August 2, 2026. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 12-6pm.

America’s National Independence Day Parade takes place annually on July 4th at 10:30 am in Washington, D.C. before a street audience of thousands of spectators. The parade starts at 3rd St. NW and Constitution Ave., runs south along 3rd St. SW to Independence Ave., heads west at Independence Ave., and ends at 12th St. SW.The Parade consists of invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIP’s, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants.
