The Jenny & Dave backstory:

Jenny met Dave while she was singing karaoke at a joint in Middletown, Connecticut one night. Dave sat at the bar, sipping his beer and paying no attention. But then she went and sang a Linda Ronstadt song. One of his favorites, and she sang it beautifully.

Trying not to conceal his unreasonable fondness for that particular Singer, Dave casually approached, suggesting they get together and learn some Linda Ronstadt songs. Maybe form a tribute band, of sorts.

But the duo went on to honor Ronstadt in a much deeper way. Not only did they quickly work up ten or fifteen of her songs, but they took their cue from her storied career, fashioning unique acoustic renderings of many, many other songs from throughout the decades, and from varying genres. Jenny & Dave cover Gershwin, The Ramones, Bessy Smith, Led Zeppelin, Patsy Cline, 10cc, Gloria Gaynor, The Beach Boys, Lil’ Green, Hank Williams and Carole King, to name a few. Their own original songs blend early jazz, blues and pop influences with modern acoustic sensibilities.

Dave’s fully-matured rhythm guitar playing, and his harmony vocals lend themselves seamlessly to Jenny’s very likeable lead vocals. Yes, she’s careful, and clearly determined to honor the songs by presenting the melodies the way she’s heard them, and studied them. Yet still, Jenny’s own distinct personality cannot help but spring forth, in a most delightful way.
