Rising Sun Energy Center, Neighbor

California Youth Energy Services (CYES) is a program of Rising Sun Energy Center, a green workforce development non-profit organization that has provided residential energy efficiency and water conservation services in the Bay Area since 2000. For seven weeks each summer, Rising Sun hires local young adults ages 15 to 22, and trains them to serve communities across the Bay Area with no-cost Green House Calls.

At each Green House Call, Energy Specialists:

 perform an energy- and water-efficiency assessment,

 install energy-efficient lightbulbs

 install water-efficient devices for showers, faucets, and toilets,

 perform a toilet leak detection test,

 perform a basic solar assessment,

 provide e-waste pick-up and disposal, and

 offer tips on recycling and energy and water conservation to save money on utility bills—all at no cost to residents.

Renters and owners, of all income levels, are eligible.

GHCs happen July 6 through August 11, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
