Almaden Valley Athletic Club

AVAC invites you to Dink4Pink, an all-day pickleball fundraising event that will rally the community in the fight against breast cancer.&nbsp;

If you love pickleball or even if you’re new to the game and want to support a good cause, register to donate and gather pledges in support of Cancer CAREpoint, a nonprofit offering free support and resources to Bay Area cancer patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.

To participate, all you need to do is pay a $25 event fee and create a 99Pledges fundraising page to donate and fundraise for our benefactor, Cancer CAREpoint!

All levels are welcome, including beginners. AVAC will also offer beginner clinics for adults and juniors (8 and older). Those who want more action can sign up to play in a one-point tournament where the first to win a single point advances to the next round, making it anyone’s game.&nbsp;

For those who want to support the cause without playing, come cheer on participants, watch exhibition matches, bid in the silent auction, or try your luck in the raffle to win prizes like AVAC Pilates classes, personal training sessions, a family photo session, and more!

FAQ

What Time is the Event?
The event runs from 9am - 7pm but you can come and leave at any time!&nbsp;
Do I need to know how to play pickleball?
No! Dink4Pink is meant for everyone who wants to support the cause. We will be having beginner clinics for both adults and juniors throughout the day so you can pick up a paddle and join in the fun!
What is the event fee vs Donations?
We will be using the event fee to cover expenses for running the fundraiser. Any money that we do not use as well as all donations made through 99Pledges will be going directly to our benefactor: CancerCAREpoint.
How does 99pledges Work?
Follow the instructions found at avac.us/Dink4Pink to set up a personal Dink4Pink fundraising page.&nbsp; This will come with a link you can share with family and friends who want to help support the event. We will be giving away prizes to the participants that raise the most for the cause!

Nonprofit, volunteer-run FoamWar, Inc., puts on an epic, 3-day Nerf event every year called Ragnarocktoberfest. This year it's the first weekend of October with a SPY v SPY theme at Independence High School in San Jose.
FREE! ALL AGES Friday afternoon/evening, (3pm - 8pm) is a blaster expo with vendors, mini games, and panels (including a rules briefing for Saturday's game and an opportunity to get your blaster checked and approved ahead of the weekend's games).
AGES 13+, $25 Saturday (10am - 9pm) is a long-form, team-based game where players on three competing teams aim at each other and also try to avoid the undead (players trying to tag and "turn" them) while playing mini games, solving puzzles, and going on missions.&nbsp;Because the rule set for The Stalking Dead is complicated, it is for ages 13+.&nbsp;

Sunday is a 5v5 King of the Hill elimination competition in the football stadium, 9am - 8pm, AGES 15+, team slots sold out, that's really fun to watch, and across campus is AGES 6+, $20, Superstock (9:45am - 4pm), a game for ages 6+ that is perfect for families, birthday parties, and groups. Play together or against each other in short games with the weekend's theme, SPY VS SPY.

Family caregiving can be one of life’s most meaningful—and most challenging—roles. While many of us will become caregivers at some point, few feel fully prepared when the responsibility arrives.
This one-time workshop will offer practical guidance and support from a physician, social worker, registered nurse, and pastor. Fellow caregivers will share their experiences, and participants will receive self-care suggestions, helpful resources, and opportunities to connect with others who understand the caregiving journey.
Presenters include Dr. Gary Lee, geriatric, hospice, and palliative care physician; Danette Flippin, geriatric social worker; Donna Bell, registered nurse and parish nurse; and Rev. Erik Swanson, senior pastor at Westhope Presbyterian Church.

By walking together, we can help create a Santa Clara County where conversations about mental health are welcomed, people feel comfortable asking for help, and everyone has access to support when they need it.
NAMIWalks Silicon Valley is free and open to everyone. Individuals, families, friends, companies, schools, community organizations, and teams are all encouraged to participate. Acterra is proud to present the 2026 Peninsula and South Bay Green@Home Tour! This is a free, community-powered event that invites the public to explore innovative, electrified homes. On Saturday, October 10th, from 11 AM to 3 PM, explore homes throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo County, ranging from new construction to those transitioning away from gas. Gain valuable insights from tour hosts on appliance selection, contractor decisions, installation processes, tax credits, and incentives, making your transition to electric living informed and cost-effective.
Attendees will have the chance to see firsthand a wide variety of electric appliances and environmentally-conscious home upgrades, including energy-efficient heat pumps for heating and cooling, heat pump water heaters, induction cooktops, rainwater catchments, compost bins, electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, battery storage systems, and more. Attendees will also be able to engage with tour hosts to learn about their choices, including financial considerations, rebate programs, contractors, and appliance models.
