Back to the Garden 1969 is a group of versatile musicians and singers who celebrate the music and spirit of the Woodstock Era. The band’s performance is a tribute to the artists who made Woodstock great – Crosby, Stills, Nash &amp; Young, Santana, Sly &amp; The Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, The Who, CCR, The Band, Arlo Gutherie, Grateful Dead…and many more.

Starting at 2:00 PM, enjoy marmalade sandwiches, a hat decorating station, a Paddington photo booth, Paddington stickers for every child, a Paddington Politeness Pledge, and more.It’s not a Paddington Party without stuffed animals! Ticketholders are invited to bring their child’s teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal (one per child, please) to the Newtown Theatre on Saturday, May 16 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. 
The theatre staff will treat the stuffed animals to a fun night at the theatre and take photos of them. The bears will be waiting for their children the next day and can go home with them after the Paddington Party &amp; Movie Screening.

Heard often on WXPN, Darlingside has long been praised for their harmonies and intelligent songwriting, described by NPR as “exquisitely arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk pop,” and their dynamic presence (crowded tightly together on stage) have made them a live-performance favorite.
Their newest album, “Fish Pond Fish,” showcases their broader storytelling abilities: nature is a looking glass, the songs suggest, with tracks like Ocean Bed, Green + Evergreen, Mountain + Sea, and Crystal Caving making metaphors of their titles.
If Darlingside’s first album, “Birds Say” (2015), focused on the past through nostalgia, and their second, “Extralife” (2018), contemplated uncertain futures, “Fish Pond Fish” stands firmly in the present, looking at what’s here, now. Dave Senft, Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, and Harris Paseltiner have created a natural history in song—taking us into gardens, almond groves, orchard rows, down to the ocean floor and under stars.

The Cold War wasn’t just fought in politics…it hit the ice. On January 11, 1976, the Philadelphia Flyers took on the legendary Soviet Red Army in one of the most iconic games in hockey history. That story comes to life in “Cold War in Philly,” an 80-minute documentary that captures a defining, Cold War era moment in hockey history through firsthand accounts. 
Known for their speed, precision, and discipline, the Soviet squad had taken the hockey world by storm – until they arrived in Philadelphia. What awaited them at the Spectrum was a team, and a city, that refused to be intimidated. 
Fueled by grit, pride, and a deep-seated distrust of their Cold War rivals, the Flyers and their fans turned the game into something far bigger than hockey. When the puck finally dropped, tensions erupted into one of the most unforgettable clashes in the sport’s history.

This screening is hosted by Emmy Award winner and film historian Joe Amodei, President/CEO of Virgil Films &amp; Entertainment. Cold War in Philly is Joe’s directorial debut.
Joe will be joined by Larry “Izzy” Goodenough, a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman who played six seasons in the National Hockey League for the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks. He won the Stanley Cup with Philadelphia in 1975.
The evening will be moderated by Mike Sielski, the author of five books, including The Rise: Kobe Bryant and the Pursuit of Immortality, Magic in the Air: The Myth, the Mystery, and the Soul of the Slam Dunk, and Going the Distance: Stallone, Philly, and the Story of ROCKY, which will be published in November. A cohost on Sports Radio 94 WIP, he has been a sports columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer and Inquirer.com since 2013 and was formerly a reporter at The Wall Street Journal. He lives in Doylestown with his wife and two sons.

Doylestown Presbyterian Church

The Bucks County Symphony Orchestra presents its premier Chamber Strings Concert at Doylestown Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 17. Maestro José Luis Domínguez conducts some of the BCSO's most accomplished musicians in performances of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, Barber's Adagio for Strings, Grieg's Holberg Suite, and Jessie Montgomery's Starburst. Tickets are available in Doylestown at Rutherford's Camera Shop and the Doylestown Bookshop, and on the BCSO website. Patrons are encouraged to get tickets in advance to guarantee admission.
