The Lightning Thief follows Percy Jackson, the teenage son of Poseidon, as he embarks on a quest to prove his innocence. When Zeus’s lightning bolt is stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect due to his father’s rivalry with Zeus. Percy receives a riddle from the Oracle that calls him to retrieve the bolt and prove his innocence. Armed with his newly formed powers, he embarks on a quest alongside his new friends Annabeth and Grover. Not only does he have to retrieve the bolt, but he must travel to the underworld, decode the riddle that warns him of a great betrayal, and come to terms with his father abandoning him. “In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived 12 little girls in two straight lines.” So begins this delightful story of Madeline’s Christmas! Miss Clavel takes the 12 little girls on a series of adventures when disaster suddenly strikes as everyone gets the flu! Everyone that is, except for the ever-resilient Madeline. Saddened that they may not be able to go home for Christmas, the girls and Miss Clavel take to their beds. A jolly visitor in red appears who reminds Madeline and her friends about the magic of the holidays. We recommend this charming musical for ages 4 and older.

Enchanted Bookshop takes place entirely in a small bookstore named A Likely Story. The store seems average by day, but it comes alive at night– literally. Beloved characters from classic literature step out of their books after all of the humans are gone. However, one night they witness a burglary. The characters long to help Margie, the bookstore owner, but they are not allowed to leave the building or be seen by human eyes. Will they warn her and risk disappearing forever? Use promocode Patch10 for a 10% discount! The celebrated Jasper Quartet — hailed as “expressively assured and beautifully balanced” (Gramophone) — takes center stage in Chiarina’s season opener that draws on poems and legends. Reinaldo Moya’s Yara, inspired by the myth of Venezuela’s most powerful female deity, enlivens vibrant string quartet writing with musical imagery and folk allusions, and Mozart’s mature string quartet famously elevates the cello to a melodic role. Schoenberg’s storied string sextet Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), based on the poem of the same name, tells an otherworldly story of love and redemption through the lush, expressive musical language of turn-of-the-century Vienna.

Arlington County Council of PTAs (CCPTA) today announced the official launch of Fill the Break: The 2026 Arlington CCPTA Food Security Challenge. Running from September 16 through December 12, 2026, this countywide initiative aims to bridge the nutrition gap for Arlington Public Schools (APS) students during weekends, holidays, snow days, and extended school breaks when school-provided meals are unavailable.
To seed the effort, CCPTA membership has directly committed $2,000 from its central fund. Through the “Fill the Break” campaign, CCPTA is inviting local families, neighborhood businesses, civic organizations, and community members to match – and exceed – this initial investment.
The fundraiser incorporates a friendly competition between APS school PTAs – the one that raises the most money will win an award, as will the school PTA that earns the most individual donations!
All funds raised through the campaign directly support the newly established CCPTA Fill the Break Food Security Grant Fund. Member PTA and PTSAs across Arlington will be eligible to apply for micro-grants to finance localized food initiatives, such as emergency “Snow Day Packs,” weekend pantry drives, and grocery gift card distributions. Make sure to select your school’s PTA to receive credit for your donation, whether you donate online or by check!
