Sweetser Lecture Series (SLS) in Wakefield, MA presents three diverse, 'give and take' (audience questions welcome) talks by area politicians, writers, playwrights, television personalities, journalists, you name it... annually in the spring. SLS was established in 1885 by the Wakefield Selectmen, supported by an endowment left by Cornelius Sweetser, a successful entrepreneurial manufacturer. The talks were re-established in 1985 after an extended lapse starting with WWII. All profits from the non-profit SLS benefit Wakefield charities.
