Who's Jason Berger?
I was born and raised on a farm in the Red River Valley of west central MN. I moved to the Twin Cities after I finished my graduate work in environmental science. My wife Angie and I moved to Edina eight years ago with our twin daughters, now age 9, to take advantage of the best school district in the state. I’ve worked 15 years as a risk engineer in the commercial property and casualty insurance industry. Angie works part time as an auditor for a community bank. We adopted a cute-as-a-button little boy who is now 2 1/2 and loves cars.
I’ve been active in the Edina community for 12 years, volunteering with nonprofit organizations and foundations. This has included organizing blood drives, awarding scholarships, raising money for the U of M Cancer Hospital, and a recent trip to bring relief supplies to Cuba. I currently sit on the board of the local chapter of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, an energy disorder with which our daughter Sunni struggles.
My family has been immersed in District 273 since we arrived with Sunni receiving birth to three and early childhood special education services. Ava attended the preschool hand in hand program at the Community Center. As new parents, we also took the Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes several years at the Community Center.
