Spend a day on the course while making a difference in the lives of children in foster care throughout Bergen County. Because every child deserves a fair shot.

Your participation helps ensure that every foster child in Bergen County has a consistent, caring, and trained advocate by their side. Bergen County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is the only nonprofit in the county that recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system. These Advocates visit regularly, monitor well-being, and advocate in court for children’s medical, educational, and emotional needs—helping them heal and thrive.

Enrichment Programs begin September 22; Pop-Up Camp Day scheduled for September 21 school closure
New Milford, NJ &mdash; September 2026 &mdash; Following a successful summer camp season and spring enrichment pilot, Varsity Prep USA is expanding its year-round programming with a new lineup of Fall After-School Enrichment Programs beginning September 22 for students in grades K&ndash;5 at Gibbs and Berkley Elementary Schools in New Milford.
The fall enrichment program gives students an opportunity to explore new interests, develop new skills, and connect with classmates beyond the traditional school day. Programs are led by New Milford teachers and staff members, providing families with familiar instructors who know the students and the school community.
This fall&rsquo;s offerings include STEM &amp; Robotics, Curious Crafters, Theatre, and Multi-Sport and additional enrichment experiences designed for different grade levels and interests.
&ldquo;Our goal is to make the hours outside of the traditional school day just as engaging and meaningful for kids,&rdquo; said Raymond Cottiers, Founder and Executive Director of Varsity Prep USA. &ldquo;By partnering with New Milford educators and offering programs right at Gibbs and Berkley, we can give students opportunities to try something new, build confidence, and have fun &mdash; while making things easier for families.&rdquo;
The expanded fall lineup builds on Varsity Prep USA&rsquo;s successful spring after-school pilot program. Parent feedback from the pilot helped shape the broader selection of programs being offered this fall.
<h2>Pop-Up Camp Day &mdash; September 21</h2>
One day before fall enrichment begins, Varsity Prep USA will offer a Pop-Up Camp Day on Monday, September 21, when New Milford schools are closed in observance of a religious holiday.
The Pop-Up Camp will run from 9:00 AM&ndash;4:00 PM, with Before Care and After Care options available for families who need an extended day.
Students can expect a full Varsity Prep camp experience featuring games, sports, creative activities, challenges, and plenty of opportunities to spend the day with friends in a fun, active, and structured environment.
The Pop-Up Camp is part of Varsity Prep USA&rsquo;s growing effort to provide families with reliable, high-quality programming throughout the entire year &mdash; from summer camp and after-school enrichment to school-closure days, clinics, leadership opportunities, and other special programs.

Varsity Prep Announces Fall After-School Enrichment Programs at Gibbs and Berkley Elementary School

An Essex County home inspector has built a free website that lets anyone look up the public records behind a New Jersey property &mdash; building permits, flood zones, fire history, property taxes, and more &mdash; by typing in an address.
The site, Permit &amp; Parcel (oprasearch.app), covers all 564 New Jersey municipalities and pulls only from official sources: state and county databases, FEMA flood maps, and the towns' own municipal codes. There's no account, no email capture, and no cost.
"I kept watching buyers fall in love with a house before anyone checked the paper trail &mdash; the open permits, the flood zone, what the town actually requires when a home changes hands," said Leo Betancor, a Certified Master Inspector based in Cedar Grove and the founder of the site. "All of that is public record. It just wasn't in one place anyone could actually use."
Alongside the main lookup, the site includes free single-purpose tools: a lead-safe inspection lookup showing which of the two state-required inspection methods each town uses under New Jersey's lead paint law, a searchable directory of every DCA-certified lead evaluation and abatement contractor sorted by distance, a fire-incident map built from more than 40 years of state fire records, and a radon map covering every municipality.
A companion site, njflood.zone, gives instant FEMA flood-zone answers for any New Jersey address &mdash; built after the federal government shutdown left FEMA's own map site unreliable &mdash; running on the site's own servers with the complete flood map data for the state loaded locally.
The project was recently featured in <a href="https://www.tapinto.net/towns/east-hanover-slash-florham-park/columns/at-home-with-holly/articles/deep-dive-conversations-what-the-house-won-t-tell-you" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">TAPinto</a>'s "At Home with Holly" column. Both sites are free at <a href="https://oprasearch.app" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">oprasearch.app</a> and <a href="https://njflood.zone" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">njflood.zone</a>.
