Phase Out NYC Horse Drawn CarriagesI had thought that the horse drawn carriages were limited to Central Park, but carriage horses are still transported down 7th Avenue, Fifth Avenue and on Central Park South and Fifth Avenue, all in heavy traffic. The horses are subject to being injured by cars and buses and often develop serious respiratory diseases from the inhalation of exhaust from buses and taxis.
Many cities, for example Chicago and even Guadalajara, Mexico, have replaced horse-drawn carriages with electric vehicles and have instituted bans on horse carriage rides. According to Edita Birnkrant, the executive director of NYCLASS, it is "long overdue that New York joins other global cities in shifting to abuse-free, electric-powered carriages that provide drivers with better paying, safer jobs".

Ottawa, Canada. Sarah Houston,The IndUS Canada Foundation (ICF) has called for the resignation of Acting Akaal Takhat Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj alleging that recent remarks and actions have led to confusion regarding Sikh religious principles and terminology.
The issue was discussed during a virtual meeting from Ottawa (Canada), convened by ICF which was attended by representatives of 28 Sikh temples and 17 Indian NRI associations from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries.
According to ICF President Vikram Bajwa the term &ldquo;Guru Dokhi&rdquo; holds profound religious significance in Sikhism and has traditionally been associated with acts of disrespect or opposition to the teachings and sanctity of Guru Granth Sahib.
