Have you heard that the Newtown Square Farmers Market is moving to a new location this year? We are so excited to be teaming up with Garrett Williamson and Urban Roots Farm, a beautiful campus right in Newtown Square! Follow our social media to stay updated on all of our vendors, musicians, and other details about the market. We'll kick off on Friday, May 29th this year with a Strawberry U-Pick at Urban Roots. The most delicious strawberries--grown in Newtown Square soil! Come out and pick some strawberries (or buy pre-picked pints, if being in the fields is not your jam), check out some of our vendors, and enjoy the live music. June 12th will be our official market kick off, with all vendors, live music, &nbsp;and Story Time with the Newtown Public Library. It's all happening at Urban Roots Farm, and we can't wait to see you there!&nbsp;

Join The Savoy Company in celebrating our 125th anniversary year with Gilbert &amp; Sullivan’s uplifting operetta,&nbsp;The Gondoliers!&nbsp;in the Open Air Theatre at Longwood Gardens. Set in Venice and the fictional kingdom of Barataria, the plot centers on two gondoliers, Marco and Giuseppe, who discover that one of them is the rightful king but cannot determine which. They agree to rule jointly until the true monarch can be identified, allowing Gilbert to satirize monarchy, aristocracy, and British political institutions. The show is especially noted for its unusually warm tone and emphasis on equality, reflecting contemporary late-Victorian debates about class and governance.
Through its witty dialogue, lively ensemble numbers, and playful mockery of aristocracy and political systems, the operetta celebrates equality while poking fun at rigid class distinctions and the pretensions of monarchy.
Premiered in 1889, The Gondoliers is the twelfth collaboration between librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan. The show ran for 554 performances, making it one of the duo’s most successful later works.
Introducing Stage Director Grant Mech and Choreographer Rebecca Malcolm-Naib, whose inventive vision brings The Gondoliers to life in a masterful comedy that sparkles under the outstanding baton of Music Director Peter Hilliard and a superb professional orchestra. Produced by William Kader, the production is enhanced by a striking, professionally designed set and delightfully charming costumes.
