Take your dancing to the next level in this focused, high-energy intensive! Designed for dancers who already know the fundamentals. Cuban salsa Intermediate class will move beyond basic steps to focus on complex partner work patterns, advanced body styling, dynamic musicality, and the authentic flow of Cuban Casino.

<h3>Prerequisites</h3>
To ensure a fluid, fast-paced learning environment, this is an Intermediate level
<ul><li>Requirement: You must have completed a Beginner Cuban Salsa course or have a solid grasp of beginner fundamentals (including basic footwork, timing, standard left/right turns, and fundamental partner connection).</li></ul>
<h3>What We Will Cover</h3>
<ul><li>Advanced Partnerwork: Intricate Cuban Casino patterns, seamless transitions, and directional changes.</li><li>Styling &amp; Body Movement: Incorporating authentic Cuban body isolation and natural expression into your dancing.</li><li>Musicality &amp; Connection: Refining lead/follow mechanics to hit musical breaks and accents naturally.</li><li>Intensive Structure: We will kick off with a quick body isolation warm-up and advanced footwork exercises before diving straight into partnerwork technique and practical, social-ready combinations.</li></ul>

Heels Class — Open to All Levels Step into your confidence and learn the foundations of dancing in heels in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
This class is designed for beginners and anyone looking to build strength, balance, and style from the ground up.
What to Expect:
• The Fundamentals: Learn how to balance, walk, and groove safely and confidently.
• Empowering Choreography: Dive into a fun, expressive routine that celebrates your unique style.
• A Supportive Community: Dance alongside a non-judgmental group focused on self-expression
We’ll focus on this heels class:
– Walking with confidence and control – Basic technique, posture, and lines – Musicality and rhythm – Simple choreography to help you feel expressive and empowered Expect a fun, encouraging space where you can explore your femininity, build body awareness, and grow at your own pace. No experience needed—just bring your energy and a pair of heels you feel comfortable in (or start in socks!).

Ready to master the “Step of the Soul”? Join us for a high-energy cumbia class where we dive into the heart of Latin America’s most infectious dance. Whether you have two left feet or you’re a dance floor regular, this class will get you moving with confidence.

4-Week Beginner Cumbia Series Program

Instructor: Mireille Ruiz Born and raised in Mexico City, she grew up dancing and listening to Latin Music as part of her culture including Cumbia, Banda, ranchera, quebradita, etc. she learned her first following Techniques, dancing with her father in every family fiesta. she has a background in Mexican folklore, Jazz, tap dancing and gymnastics, she also is a percussionist, drummer and Montessori Teacher.
 She grew up performing since she the age of 4. Bay Area bachata and cumbia dance instructor, Mireille has been teaching dance, performing, leading dance teams, around USA events, dance festivals, congresses since 2008

Take Your Cumbia to the Next Level
Ready to level up your “Step of the Soul”? Join us for a high-energy, Intermediate Cumbia series designed to take you beyond the basics and inject flavor, intricate patterns, and advanced musicality into your dance. If you are comfortable with the basic rhythm and ready to challenge your footwork and partner work, this class is for you!
Prerequisite: Completion of the Beginner Cumbia series (or equivalent foundational experience) is required.
4-Week Intermediate Cumbia Series Program
Week 1 – Intermediate Foundations &amp; Complex Timing
• Quick review of basic steps (Tropical and Sonidera) and rhythm check
• Introduction to syncopated footwork and advanced timing shifts
• Enhancing partner connection: tension, compression, and frame control for faster transitions
• Intermediate partner work combination with dynamic direction changes
Week 2 – Advanced Turns, Traveling, &amp; Precision
• Review of Week 1 combination and footwork
• Multiple turns and accelerated turn preparations for both leaders and followers
• Advanced traveling basics: mastering floor craft and moving effortlessly across the room
• Complex partner patterns incorporating intricate hand-drops and loops
Week 3 – Styling, Body Isolation, &amp; Intricate Patterns
• Review of advanced turns and loops
• Adding intermediate styling: body isolations, hip action, and expressive arm styling
• Advanced cross-body lead variations and continuous turn combinations
• Developing smooth, seamless transitions between complex moves
Week 4 – Musicality, Flow, &amp; Social Mastery
• Review of all intermediate footwork, styling, and patterns
• Combining the 4-week material into an advanced choreography sequence
• Deep dive into musicality: hitting the breaks, accents, and interpreting different Cumbia sub-genres
• Building confidence, flow, and expression for the social dance floor
• Social dancing practice + comprehensive mini recap

• Experience Level: Intermediate. Beginner class/foundational experience is required.
No partner necessary: Come solo or bring a friend—we will rotate throughout the class so everyone gets plenty of time to dance.
Footwear: Please wear non-marking shoe soles to help us keep our dance floor in great condition.

About the Instructor: Mireille Ruiz
Born and raised in Mexico City, Mireille grew up immersed in the music and dance of her culture, including Cumbia, Banda, Ranchera, and Quebradita. She learned her first following techniques dancing with her father at family fiestas.
With a rich background in Mexican folklore, Jazz, tap dancing, and gymnastics, Mireille is also a percussionist, drummer, and Montessori Teacher. She has been performing since the age of 4. As a premier Bay Area Bachata and Cumbia instructor, Mireille has been teaching dance, performing, and leading dance teams at major USA events, festivals, and congresses since 2008.
