Join us for another summer of plein air painting classes with the Bridgehampton Museum! This year our workshops will be hosted by three different artists throughout the summer, giving all of our students more opportunities to learn. These classes are for artists of all abilities from beginners to professionals and will take place at a series of beautiful locations within the Bridgehampton area. Join us to get hands on with some history!
The Nathaniel Rogers House is the former home to miniature portraitist Nathaniel Rogers. In 2003 The Town of Southampton began the process of purchasing and renovating his historic mansion along with help from the Bridgehampton Museum who now operate out of the space.
At the culmination of this program, The Bridgehampton Museum will be hosting an exhibition of works done by students in this class. Each student will be able to submit one piece they worked on during one of the classes to be part of the exhibition which will be on view in the museum this fall.

Join the Bridgehampton Museum for the opening of Sagg Swamp, a new exhibition by Bridgehampton native and acclaimed artist Laurie Lambrecht. For more than a decade, Lambrecht has returned to Sagg Swamp, observing its trees, tangled branches, water, lichen, and dense undergrowth through photography and handwork. The exhibition brings together photographs, textiles, knitting, weaving, and stitched works inspired by the landscape, exploring the patterns, textures, and rhythms of one of the South Fork’s most ecologically diverse wetlands. Sagg Swamp offers an intimate portrait of a place that has served as Lambrecht’s sanctuary, muse, and enduring source of creative discovery.

Corwith House - The Bridgehampton Museum

Learn the ancient technique of encaustic painting which dates to the Greeks. Students will be led by teacher and artist Bonnie Rychlak to learn the basics of this ancient craft that involves using hot wax and pigments to create something of a mixture between painting and sculpting. Through demonstrations, discussion and exploration, students will discover its endless possibilities for making art.
There is a class size limit of 10 students and students will be expected to come to all five classes. All materials will be supplied for this class.Classes are sept 21st-25th.

Join Professor Emeritus Neill Slaughter to discover how Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti earned immortality through their creative genius.
About the Speaker
Artist Neill Slaughter graduated with a BFA degree in 1975 from the University of Georgia and an MFA in 1978 from Indiana University. Professor Slaughter has taught fine arts courses at the university level as well as exhibited his drawings and paintings nationally and internationally for more than forty years. Having also lived and taught abroad as well as traveling extensively throughout the world, Slaughter’s paintings often reflect the social conditions of his surroundings. Among his awards and honors, Professor Slaughter has received a Ford Foundation Fellowship, a Scottish Arts Council Grant, an LMU Research Grant to Africa and a Fulbright Fellowship to India. In 2003 Professor Slaughter was presented the David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching granted by Long Island University and in 2008 he mounted a thirty-year retrospective, which included a full color catalogue. In 2017 LIU granted him Professor Emeritus status and in 2022 Professor Slaughter mounted a fifty-year retrospective and lecture.

Join the Bridgehampton Museum for Cocktails at The Bridge, an evening honoring Bob Morrow and Dennis Suskind, two longtime champions whose dedication and generosity helped make possible the restoration of the Nathaniel Rogers House. Hosted by Bob Rubin and The Bridge Golf Club, the evening celebrates their legacy while looking toward the future of the Museum and its mission to preserve and share Bridgehampton’s history. Guests will gather for cocktails, conversation, and a celebration of community at The Bridge, located on the grounds of the historic Bridgehampton Raceway, where generations once gathered for legendary motor races. Come raise a glass to history, community, and what comes next.

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required.
