Crystal, Neighbor
- Bethesda-Chevy Chase, MD
I love travels. I find myself dissolved in the art wonderland wherever I go, no matter it's in Asia, America or Europe, in cities or a mountain village. Art is indispensable in our lives and our appreciation should not be limited to fancy art shows. I hope to infuse art into our day-to-day life through ArtInBuildings.
As an old saying goes, a great neighbor is dearer than a distant family. A welcoming and artistic vibe in a space is helpful to promote conversations, ideas and connection. An Art lounge has been created to provide a convenient gathering space for local residents and friends to chat beyond the “hi and bye” greetings of typical modern residents. Technology has made the world a smaller place but we are occupied with virtual communications and lack interpersonal conversations. When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation with someone in your immediate community?
At the same time, many amazing works produced by talented artists are stacked in studios and storage units, gaining limited public exposure or appreciation. Art is indispensible in our lives, but it might be hard to access it. Art should not be limited to fancy art shows or museums but be broadened to daily living.
Killing two birds with one stone, I decorate the interior environment with original art, promote community connection and increase the visibility and exposure of great artists. By rotating their artworks, the venue will be fresh and exciting instead of familiar and mundane.
