Maumee Glow 5K Run/Walk To Support Seniors Set for July 10
MAUMEE—Put on those shoes and get ready to join the Maumee Glow 5K Run/Walk To Support Seniors on July 10, 2026!
“This year we have expanded the event to welcome more community participation. There will be free games for children, prizes, free glow in the dark temporary tattoos and glow necklaces, even pizza – all while supplies last,” said Malinda Ruble, Executive Director of the Maumee Senior Center. “We think this will be a lot of fun. Games will take place before and after the race.”
The time of the event has also changed.
“Last year was our first year of hosting the race at night. It was extremely hot for everyone. So this year, the race doesn’t kick off until 7:30 p.m. after the afternoon heat begins to decrease. Plus, we are so fortunate that the Maumee Fire Department will be providing a cooling station to cool down participants as they complete the run/walk,” Ruble said.
The race will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Maumee High School, 1147 Saco St., on a flat and fast course offering runners the chance to get an amazing time. 
 “This is a great opportunity for the Maumee Senior Center to do something fun for the community and at the same time the proceeds benefit Maumee Senior Center programs,” Ruble said. “It’s an inexpensive way to help seniors, get exercise and have fun all at the same time.”
Every dollar of the proceeds goes to support the Maumee Senior Center's programs and services for seniors. 
“Fundraisers like this race help to bridge the gap in funding for transportation to medical appointments or the grocery store, meals, activities and services,” said Ruble.
Event Day Registration takes place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. near the start/finish line at Maumee High School. Forms of payment accepted race day include: cash, check or Venmo.
Registration is just $22 if postmarked or paid online at <a href="https://www.runsignup.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.runsignup.com</a> by June 26. Those registered by June 26 will receive a shirt. The registration fee increases to $27 after June 26 and a shirt is not guaranteed. Race Day registration is $27 and will open at 6:30 p.m. on July 10, 2026. Online registration is available at <a href="https://www.runsignup.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.runsignup.com</a> and a service fee applies. 
“And if running isn’t your thing, walkers are welcome also. Walkers can go as little or as far as they would like on the route,” said Ruble.
In addition, there will be a Most Illuminated Contest before the award ceremony. The top three places will receive a prize.
Awards will be given to runners both Male/Female Overall, Master (40+) and Grand Masters (50+) in the race. Every participant in the race or walk receives a free Chick-fil-A coupon, while supplies last. Following the awards ceremony, there will be a pizza party to celebrate!

The Maumee Senior Center is a registered 501(c)3 organization which provides services and programs for people 60 years of age and better.
