Bribed her oldest son, Mary Jo began a young writers group at the Downers Grove Public Library in 2006, which later inspired her to join forces with Friends of the Gifted and Talented to teach Writers' Workshop and Publish Me! classes in the fall and winter Super Saturday sessions. She also teaches a one-week writing intensive summer studio (2nd week of August.) When Mary Jo isn't teaching, reading or watching Survivor with her husband & sons, she's working on revision #3 of her YA novel, tentatively titled, Half Moon Bay Resort.
