Spiritual Center of the Desert

The Spiritual Center of the Desert will&nbsp; host the monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery Phukang as part of their Sacred Harmony World Peace Tour. In a time of global uncertainty, the monks share the ancient wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism through sacred chanting, art and teachings that inspire peace, healing, and compassion. These powerful immersive experiences are intended to cultivate inner harmony and extend a ripple of healing energy throughout the community.
Suggested donations for events $20 - $25. All are welcome, nobody turned away for lack of funds.
Tuesday, May 5th 10 AM ~ Chanting Tea Ceremony ~ A sacred practice of gratitude and blessings, offering thanks to all beings.
Tuesday, May 5th 6 PM ~ The Buddha ~ Who was Siddhartha Gautama (lit. the awakened one’), his life and what did he teach. An introduction to Buddhism.
Wednesday, May 6th 10 AM ~ Loving Kindness Meditation ~ A practice of opening the heart to compassion lead by Ven. Geshe Kalsang.
Wednesday, May 6th 6 PM ~ Chanting of the Heart Sutra ~ Immerse yourself in the deep resonance and guttural tones of Tibetan monks chanting the Heart Sutra. This revered Buddhist text, a luminous guide to emptiness. 
Thursday, May 7th 10 AM ~ Peaceful Mind in a Chaotic World ~ Explore how to cultivate a peaceful mind through Buddhist wisdom and practical guidance.
Thursday, May 7th 6 PM ~ Chey Drol Ritual ~ A ceremony to remove obstacles, where participants symbolically release negative patterns using rainbow threads.

Friday, May 8th 6 PM ~ Karma Buddhist Teaching ~ Learn how actions shape our lives and cultivate awareness. 
Saturday, May 9th 10 AM ~ Tonglen Meditation ~ A compassion practice where we breathe in suffering and transform it into healing and love led by Ven. Geshe Kalsang
Saturday, May 9th 6 PM ~ Chey Drol ~ A ceremony to remove obstacles, where participants symbolically release negative patterns using rainbow threads.
Sunday, May 10th 12 PM Mother’s Day ~ Momo’s for Mama’s ~&nbsp; In celebration of Mother’s Day, the monks will lovingly prepare traditional Tibetan Momo’s for all the mamas to enjoy. Space is limited please RSVP 775-586-9125 Non refundable $35 per person payment is due upon reservation.
Sunday, May 10th 6 PM ~ White Tara Blessing/Puja ~ A ceremony of compassion, healing, and long life honoring the nurturing energy of mothers.
