Smith Physical Therapy + Crystal Lake

Age Strong is a small-group class focused on building the essential strength needed for common daily activities that can start to feel challenging over time. Tasks such as emptying the dishwasher, carrying laundry upstairs, getting up from a chair, unloading groceries from the car, or playing with grandchildren on the floor, are addressed during the class. Through targeted, functional exercises, Age Strong helps you rebuild the muscle strength, endurance, and mobility that support these real-world tasks.&nbsp;
This class takes place in the Balance Center at Smith Physical Therapy+ and is led by Jennifer Myatt. Each session emphasizes proper form, joint protection, and safe progression, ensuring that you’re not just getting stronger, you’re learning how to move better.
The class meets once a week on Wednesdays, from 1-2pm for 6 weeks.
Class Dates: 6/24, 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29

Three Oaks Recreation Area

Registration is now open for the <a href="https://raceroster.com/events/2026/113712/crystal-lake-aquathon-2026" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">9th Annual Crystal Lake Aquathon</a>, taking place Sunday, July 19 at Three Oaks Recreation Area. Hosted by <a href="https://smithptplus.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Smith Physical Therapy+</a>, this unique event is one of the only Aquathon in Illinois and offers a challenging yet accessible race experience for athletes of all levels. All proceeds from the event benefit <a href="https://www.gotrnwil.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois</a>, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young girls through mentorship, physical activity, and confidence-building programs.
Participants will swim a scenic quarry loop around three islands before transitioning to a run course featuring a mix of trails, sand, and pavement, all set within the beautiful Three Oaks Recreation Area.

<ul><li>Sprint Distance: 500m swim + 5K run</li><li>Olympic Distance: 1-mile swim + 10K run</li><li>Swim Only: 2-mile</li><li>Swim Only: 1-mile (timed; not eligible for awards)</li><li>Kids Aquathon: 250m swim + 1-mile run</li><li>Adaptive 1-Mile Swim: available for participants needing additional support</li></ul>

Are you ready to take charge of your health and feel your strongest at every stage of life? Woman Strong! is a small group weightlifting class designed specifically for women looking to combat the effects of menopause, osteoporosis, and natural aging. Weightlifting isn’t just for athletes, it’s for every woman who wants to feel strong, healthy and confident.
In this class, you’ll gain:
<ul><li>Increased bone density to help fight osteoporosis</li><li>Improved strength, balance, and coordination to prevent falls</li><li>Boosted metabolism and higher energy levels</li><li>Relief from menopause symptoms such as fatigue, mood swings, and weight changes</li><li>Support and motivation from a community of like-minded women</li></ul>
No experience is needed and all fitness levels are welcome! Certified Personal Trainer Kelly Tafoya will guide you in proper technique and will provide personalized modifications to meet your individual needs.

Calling all grade schoolers! If you know a kiddo who enjoys running or is just looking for a fun summer adventure, Kids Run This Town, is a one-month program that gets kids moving, learning, and having a blast before school starts. The program runs throughout August and includes two guided running sessions with Coach Megan of Sloan Coaching, to master running tips and tricks.
Over the month, participants will complete 12 miles with a running buddy (mom, dad, sibling, friend or neighbor) building confidence and stamina. Then, at the Crystal Lake Half Marathon (September 6th), they’ll run their 13th mile, joining the half marathoners to cross the finish line and earn their very own half marathon medal!

Enjoy the sites of Crystal Lake Illinois with the start at iconic Crystal Lake Main Beach, a loop around Lippold Park, a view of the Dole Mansion, a jaunt down the Prairie Path, and finish up in downtown Crystal Lake. This point to point venue will bus runners to the START with an easy 5 minute bus ride. Inside building and beach side warm up areas are available no matter what the weather will bring. Every 1 1/2 mile are water stations.&nbsp;Food, Beverages, Awards at the after race party (location TBD).
