(MAP) is pleased to present “Natural Herstories" exploring womxn artists’ complex relationships with the natural world, with a particular focus on artists who employ nature as an act of reclamation against colonialist narratives within their work. “Natural Herstories” examines the intersections of patriarchy, colonialism, and systems of classification embedded within institutions such as natural history museums, the natural sciences, and the tradition of taxidermy. The exhibition draws parallels between the historical exercise of male power over nature, animal bodies, and female bodies alike. Through this framework, the exhibition proposes that womxn artists engage the natural world as both subject matter and a form of resistance, challenging histories of domination and subjugation imposed upon both the environment and the bodies that inhabit it. XoXo Gallery is accepting submissions for “Dance of the Nipples” an exhibition responding to Breast Cancer awareness month. This exhibition invites artists and individuals who have been personally affected by breast cancer—including those currently undergoing treatment,&nbsp; in recovery, in remission or survivors of breast cancer. Caregivers, family members, friends, and loved ones are also welcome to apply. We recognize that breast cancer informs each individual differently and want to acknowledge the voices and perspectives of those affected.&nbsp;

Artists of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply. Whether you are sharing your own journey, honoring someone you love, documenting the role of caregiving, or exploring the broader social and cultural impacts of breast cancer, we invite you to contribute to this collective conversation.

XoXo Gallery is a curatorial initiative, not exclusive to the Goxxip Girl Collective, meaning anyone and everyone is eligible to apply to our open calls regardless of gender.&nbsp;
