Yard to Table: Weekly Garden Skills Education Series on Wednesdays

St. John welcomes Pastor Mark Fisher of St. John Lutheran Church and creator of Pathways in Compassion, a nursing home visitation ministry that matches volunteers with individuals living in nursing facilities who do not have regular visitors. Pastor Mark, along with some Pathways volunteers, will share their experiences and reflect on the impact and challenges of this important work. Several times a year we offer a speaker series in which we hear from people working The Peace within our community and explore ways that we can live out our call to love God and our neighbors, acting on our values of Compassion, Mercy, Justice, Forgiveness and Grace.
We begin with a light meal at 6:00 pm, and follow with a presentation and Q&amp;A. This free event is open to all and offers a valuable opportunity to engage, learn, and reflect on strengthening communities. Childcare can be provided on request. Join us for a unique Trunk or Treat experience! Follow the trail through the church building, out to the garden. Collect treats from decorated trunks along the winding path. End your journey in the laser swamp.

All are welcome to enjoy this special concert in honor of All Saints Day, featuring ethereal music for violin, viola and keyboard. Come and be uplifted by heavenly masterpieces of the repertoire by Bach, Mozart, Debussy and others.
Music is presented by Jerusha Taylor, violin; Jeffrey Wilkinson, viola; and Sean Michael Jackman, piano and organ.​
A reception follows the concert. This event is FREE and open to everyone!

Chamber Music the Scarab Club is&nbsp;excited to open its 28th season upstairs in the lounge gallery of Detroit's historic Scarab Club! Drake Dantzler, tenor; Alta Boover Dantzler, contralto; John Alexander Madison, viola; and Simon Adda-Reyss, piano, will present an intimate afternoon of chamber music exploring love, faith, consolation, and spiritual reflection. The program will include Johannes Brahms's Two Songs, Op. 91 and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Four Hymns.&nbsp;Don’t miss these exceptional musicians performing in the Scarab Club’s remarkable acoustics. You’ll also have the rare opportunity to hear the Club’s historic Pleyel piano, built in the 1870s. CMSC concerts offer an intimate experience, with audiences seated close to the musicians and surrounded by beautiful works of art—an unforgettable setting for chamber music.
