With a diverse repertoire and exceptional talent, the&nbsp;Commanders Jazz Ensemble&nbsp;offers far more than traditional big band music. While they honor legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Glenn Miller, they seamlessly transition into cool jazz, bebop, Latin rhythms, Broadway hits, and patriotic music.
The ensemble is part of the&nbsp;United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, stationed in the San Francisco Bay Area at Travis Air Force Base, California. The only active duty Air Force band west of the Rockies, the Band of the Golden West is comprised of about 60 talented and versatile Airmen-musicians under the command of Captain Brian O’Donnell. In addition to performing for civilian communities throughout the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada, the band supports 13 Air Force Bases, 8 Air Force Reserve Wings, and 6 recruiting squadrons in over 250 annual performances for 1.5 million listeners.
The organization offers several outstanding performing groups: Concert Band, Ceremonial Marching Band, Commanders Jazz Ensemble, Mobility popular music ensemble, Travis Brass quintet, Golden West Brass ensemble, Golden West Winds woodwind quintet, Sierra Winds woodwind ensemble, Clarinet Quartet, and Galaxy popular music ensemble. Additionally, the Band of the Golden West provides solo vocalists for the performance of our National Anthem and solo buglers for Taps details.
The Band of the Golden West has performed for gubernatorial inaugurations, with guest artists such as Marvin Stamm, Arturo Sandoval and Bob Hope, and for the fans of Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and Infineon NASCAR races. In the last ten years the band has led off three Tournament of Roses parades in Pasadena, CA. In 2004, the USAF Band of the Golden West was honored to support the interment ceremony of President Ronald Reagan in Simi Valley, CA, an event, viewed by a global TV audience of over 400 million. More recent events include featured performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Pentatonix.

Set in the heart of California wine country, the highly anticipated Healdsburg International Short Film Festival (HISFF) returns this September for its 5th&nbsp;year, promising another weekend of unforgettable cinema, parties, and a red carpet opening night. This three-day festival runs from September 25th&nbsp;through September 27th. Organized in collaboration with the&nbsp;Healdsburg Center for the Arts (HCA), HISFF 2026 coincides with HCA’s&nbsp;<a href="https://healdsburgcenterforthearts.org/festival-of-the-arts/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Festival of the Arts</a>,&nbsp;creating a vibrant, art-filled weekend.
HISFF 2026 kicks off with an Opening Night Soirée, a lively red-carpet&nbsp;arrival and photo op at the Raven, and an exquisite collection of mixed genre short films. Festivities continue with multiple screening sessions, a Saturday night party at&nbsp;The Rooftop at the Harmon Guest House, and a filmmaker breakfast, culminating in an awards ceremony on Sunday night.
Our panel of notable judges from the entertainment industry makes the HISFF an attraction for new and veteran filmmakers alike — people like&nbsp;Ed Begley, Jr., Laraine Newman, Billy Ray, Tom Waits, and so many more. Several judges are attending the festival this year, including writer Billy Ray (The Hunger Games&nbsp;and the soon-to-be released&nbsp;The Hunger Games: Sunrise On the Reaping&nbsp;), who will make a book-signing appearance at the Raven on Saturday, September 26th (Time TBD).

The street will be lined with booths featuring fine arts, crafts, jewelry, poetry, live music, food trucks, and more!
Copperfield’s is organizing a free-admission book-signing event with screenwriter (and festival jurist) Billy Ray at the Raven from 11:00 am, also on Saturday, September 26th. Books will be available for purchase and signing, but it’s best to order your copy ahead of time from Copperfield’s.

Sweeney Todd is largely considered one of Stephen Sondheim’s masterpieces. With it, he aimed to create a musical that could “scare the hell out of everyone,” and yet, somehow, be funny.
The story centers around Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber who returns to London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of 19th Century London lining up…and the carnage has only just begun!

On Sept 12, guests are invited to gather at Dragonfly Floral in Healdsburg for a community-driven fundraising dinner benefiting BEE in Kenya, the nonprofit co-founded by beekeeper and Sonoma County Bee Company owner Candice Koseba.
This year's event will also feature an all-art auction, with original works generously donated by an inspiring collection of local and international artists. Local artists Jake Messing, Jessica Martin, and Sebastian Pochan to name a few. Each piece has been donated to help raise critical funds for BEE in Kenya's mission, making art an integral part of an evening dedicated to creating meaningful impact.
