Get ready to rock the woods at the third annual Rock the Woods Outdoor Music Festival at Rocky Woods!
Spend the afternoon surrounded by the natural beauty of Rocky Woods while enjoying an unforgettable lineup of live music, great food, and summer fun.
Opening the festival is award-winning Boston-area singer-songwriter <a href="https://www.sarahblacker.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sarah Blacker</a>, whose soulful vocals, folk-rock sound, and emotionally rich songwriting have made her a standout on the New England music scene. A two-time New England Music Awards “Performer of the Year,” Blacker blends influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman to classic rock and jazz into a powerful live performance.
The energy turns all the way up with <a href="https://www.youngamericansbowie.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Young Americans</a>, bringing the music, style, and spectacle of David Bowie to the Rocky Woods stage. From glam rock classics to dance-floor favorites, audiences can expect a celebration of one of music’s most iconic performers.

Based in North Grafton, the Blackstone Valley String Quartet specializes in genre-blending performances throughout New England. From pop anthems to classical favorites, they reimagine familiar melodies with a fresh, creative twist – bringing people together through the power of music.
This concert celebrates the bold voices of women past and present, with special recognition of Amelia Peabody, whose spirit of innovation, independence, and generosity originally saved Powisset Farm from development and later provided it to The Trustees.

Join us for Kiddos in the Kitchen! After a busy summer filled with young chefs in our Farmer, Forester, Chef! camp, the Powisset Kitchen is missing the laughter, creativity, and excitement of our campers. That’s why we’re inviting your little food lovers back for a fun-filled Saturday afternoon of cooking and discovery!
As summer winds down, Powisset Farm is bursting with fresh vegetables from our Children’s Garden. Kiddos will harvest inspiration from the season’s bounty while learning new kitchen skills, trying fresh ingredients, and creating delicious recipes from scratch.
The back-to-school season can be busy, but learning doesn’t have to stay in the classroom! This hands-on cooking class encourages creativity, confidence, and curiosity in the kitchen. Best of all, each child will take home recipes to share with family and recreate together at home.
We can’t wait to welcome your young chef into the kitchen for an afternoon of fun, learning, and tasty treats!
Whenever possible, ingredients will be sourced directly from our farm. This hands-on program is designed to be fun, creative, and educational, giving children the chance to experience two different aspects of farm life in one engaging day.

Sourdough is one of the oldest forms of bread; in fact, it was the traditional breadmaking method for most of human history. Special guest chef Clarisse Maugis will ensure your success in this hands-on class, where you’ll learn to make a simple sourdough bread using staple pantry ingredients. C’est Magnifique!
Chef Clarisse is from the countryside north of Paris, where she grew up cooking beside her mother and grandmother. After earning a degree in hospitality, apprenticing in Michelin 3-star restaurants, learning from a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and working in fine dining kitchens in France and St. Barth’s, she moved to the U.S. to learn to speak English. Chef Clarisse says, “French cooking is not difficult! Anyone can learn the techniques. All we need is to put our heart into it!”

At this fascinating workshop, you’ll walk Powisset’s woodlands and meadows, guided by Powisset’s mycologist, Amanda, who will provide tips for locating and identifying fungi. Amanda will discuss the role of fungi in the ecosystem, how sustenance foraging can be utilized to diversify our diets and combat food insecurity, as well as the future possibilities of mushrooms as medicine, cosmetics and a valuable source of protein in our growing and changing world.
There will be a focus on safety while foraging, how to avoid poisonous look-alikes and take a deep dive into a handful of common edible and medicinal fungi found in Massachusetts. Participants will learn about the beauty and mystery of the fungal kingdom, proper foraging etiquette and how to preserve and make the most of a successful harvest.
The second portion of this workshop will be a log inoculation class, where each participant will create their own Shiitake log to take home and grow. Working as a team, we will drill holes in each log, fill them with Shiitake mycelium, and seal the holes with wax to prepare them for their colonization period. Instructional materials will be provided for continuing the growing process and will cover the next steps to ensure a successful harvest at home.
These logs take between 6-9 months to fully incubate and will produce mushrooms for up to 5 years with proper care. Logs inoculated during class will be ready to fruit in the spring season.
In the third segment of the workshop, Chef Charlotte will join you in the Powisset Kitchen to create an unforgettable mushroom culinary experience. 
This is a very special opportunity to explore, discover, cultivate, and taste the wonders of wild mushrooms.
Our mushroom programs are led by knowledgeable guides and focus on the ecology of mushrooms and their vital role in the ecosystem. Please note, we will forage mushrooms for educational purposes only and not for consuming. Join us as we discover the wonders of mushrooms and their natural habitats.

Enjoy a guided walk through the scenic, storied landscapes of historic Powisset Farm in Dover, previously owned by Boston sculptor, entrepreneur, farmer, and philanthropist Amelia Peabody. Each step on the stroll brings the past to life through engaging tales of early agricultural life on the farm and the role of Amelia Peabody. The stroll will be jointly guided by Judy Schulz of the Dover Historical Society and a Trustees Ranger. 
After the stroll, gather in Powisset’s main barn for a locally sourced lunch prepared with produce grown on the farm. You’ll be guided through the courses by Powisset’s chef and culinary instructor.  This is a unique opportunity to experience the rich history of the land while enjoying the farm fresh tastes of the season.

Between smoky chicken stew with butternut squash and kale, pork and pinto bean chili, and coconut curried lentils, there is something for everyone in this cauldron-centered class.

We’ll end with a maple glazed brown butter apple blondie with sour cream ice cream for the perfect sweet-tart finish.
