Savannah Ziegelbauer, Patch Staff

I earned my master's from Medill, Northwestern University's journalism school, in August 2010. Shortly thereafter, I took a job with Patch, where I served as the local editor for Algonquin, IL until March 2012. I am now thrilled to be the editor for Palatine Patch.

Some of my hobbies include training for half marathons, reading and traveling. While attending college at UW-Madison (Go Badgers!) I spent a semester studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain.

<b>Your Beliefs</b><br> At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. I&#39;d call myself a left-leaning moderate. I think the fundamental problem with our political system is a result of the two-party system that has formed in our country. Both parties do as much as they can to attract the so-called &#34;independents,&#34; who almost always lean to one side on either social or fiscal issues. <br> <br> <b>Religion</b>

I was raised in a very Catholic community (it is called the Holyland because it comprises a series of small towns named after Catholic Saints). I believe that if you treat people well, others will treat you with the same kindness and respect.<br> <b><br> Local Hot-Button Issues</b>
