Recognized as one of the best native plant nurseries in Ohio and one of the best businesses locally, Scioto Gardens has grown much in the last 7 years. It was founded in 1999 by Michael and Linda Johnson. After their retirement in 2019, a new team of partners purchased the nursery and continued the Johnson’s legacy. As threats to wildlife and ecosystems have become better know, interest in native plants has increased. Customers come to Scioto Gardens from throughout Ohio and the greater Midwest Region. Sales have grown by nearly 300% and services have expanded to include: ecological design from award-winning landscape designers, installation, and a gift shop. In 2024, Scioto Gardens moved to its current location at 2870 Curve Rd. in Delaware, Ohio. There, on 10 acres, they’ve continued to grow inventory, demonstrate restoration practices, and offer educational and celebratory events for the local community.
