UU&nbsp;Westport is pleased to invite all in our community to this gathering of connection, support, learning and wisdom this Saturday, 10 AM-5PM. We will come together to learn from the teachings and guidance of three indigenous grandmothers. Nana Wilma, a Mayan Spiritual Guide, Marsha Forest a Wisdom Keeper of Mohawk ancestry, and Grandmother Nancy Andry of Algonquin and French heritage.&nbsp; 
Lunch will be provided, and this event is free.

This program is brought to us by our UU&nbsp;Westport Social Justice committee, <a href="https://mendingthesacredhoop.earth/what-is-this/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Mending the Sacred Hoop</a>. Its purpose is to engage congregants of all ages in activities such as worship services around the spiritual practices of indigenous people, educational sessions with native elders, and events highlighting the real needs of native people with the intention of taking collective action. These activities are based on inspiration, connection, and action.

The Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is proud to welcome educators and the general public to our site during September 2026, Constitution Month, to commemorate our nation’s journey towards independence and democracy. The free program is co-sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Social Studies Council. The event will be the first of many lively conversation about America at 250 with some of our country’s leading history scholars. It is open to teachers throughout the Mid Hudson and Sound Shore communities as well as Fairfield County.
Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity. The panel will discuss what the United States and the Constitution have meant to citizens over time and how that vision has changed or stayed constant. &nbsp;The event is FREE but registration is required. Our schedule of remaining in-person (and livestreamed) services are:
Yom Kippur Kol Nidre Service, Sunday, September 20th at 7:30 pm
Yom Kippur Memorial and Closing Service, Monday, September 21st at 5:00 pm.
In-person or livestream options are available. Non-members must pre-register on CHJ's website, no later than Thursday, September 17, for location details. While our services are free of charge, we kindly ask non-members to consider a donation.
As the only Humanistic Jewish congregation in Connecticut, CHJ celebrates Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with a Humanistic liturgy, beautiful live music (song leader and instrumental), and inspirational poetry and readings.
Our services strike a balance between the broad stream of Judaism and a secular humanistic view of Jewish culture and customs. They are unique and spiritually uplifting and allow one to reflect on the year that has passed and the promise of the new year to come.
CHJ is affiliated with the Society for Humanistic Judaism (shj.org), part of a movement that celebrates Jewish culture and heritage through a non-theistic, human-centered approach. Our membership reflects a diverse group of people who enrich our community.

Registration is now open for Music on the Hill's after school music programs for kids! 
Children's Chorus is open to all kids in grades 2 through 6 who love to sing! Rehearsals are Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m., starting October 1. In Children’s Chorus, children build a musical foundation through singing. Children will learn vocal technique and breath support, music and rhythm reading, pitch and listening skills, and more. Through being part of the ensemble, children will build confidence, and skills in teamwork and leadership. 
Cultural Drum &amp; Fun is open to children of all ages, including young children with a caregiver. Sessions are Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:00 p.m., starting September 23. Cultural Drum &amp; Fun is an opportunity for youth, family and friends to explore the wonderful world of music through drumming. Authentic instruments from Africa, Brazil and beyond add to the cultural and musical education and enhance the experience!
