Historic Church with sights set on the Future

St. Paul's Episcopal Church on the Town Green in Fairfield was first planned by a group of residents in April, 1853, eight years prior to the beginning of the Civil War. The parish took advantage of the town's loss of status as the county seat and was able to buy land on the Town Green, the former location of the jail (the foundation of which is still identifiable in the cellar of the church).

Over the years, St. Paul’s has come to be known for a rich ministry of music, grounded in the Anglican tradition. Recent leaders like Adam Lewis, Ned Prevost, Ben Brockman, and Judy Rhodes have each guided this worshipping community forward in following the way of Jesus, which is the way of love.

In 2017, Curtis Farr became the 16th rector of the parish, and St. Paul's has begun a renewed trajetory of ministry by engaging more deeply in social justice issues, connecting the realities of modern life to our rich traditions, and being a community of hope in the midst of an anxious world.
