Join us for a presentation and discussion on the film industry in Western Queens and New Y ork State, focusing on its role as a key economic driver in our neighborhood and providing up-to-date information for residents and stakeholders.
Featured speakers include Adam Gordon of Wildflower Studios, Catherine Nasch of United Scenic Artists, and Josh Levin of the Motion Picture Association, who will share insights on industry trends, jobs, and investment in our area.
We will also hear updates from Layla Musawwir of NYC Ferry and Victor Prado of the Queens Economic Development Corporation, highlighting transportation and economic development initiatives that support Western Queens.

Back on our stage this summer! Chamber music supergroup Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, and Jeremy Denk &amp; friends return for two concerts – and two wholly different programs – of the radiant, poetic music of one of their favorite composers – the great Romantic, Robert Schumann.
Bell and Denk open this concert with the smoldering A-Minor Sonata, one of Schumann’s finest works, and one of Bell’s favorites. Isserlis joins for the passionate D-Minor Piano Trio. The second half opens with Isserlis and Denk in the intimate and fiery Adagio and Allegro before Bell returns, joined by friends Irène Duval and Blythe Teh Engstroem for the concert’s finale – the beloved Piano Quintet, one of Schumann’s great masterworks, and widely considered the first great piano quintet.

Get a taste of batik in this hands-on session that introduces the fundamentals of this layered textile process.&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;work with wax&nbsp;resist&nbsp;and fabric dyes to build pattern and imagery, learning how designs develop through successive steps of waxing and dyeing. With guided instruction,&nbsp;you’ll&nbsp;complete a small batik piece while getting comfortable with the tools, materials, and rhythm of the process. This class is designed as an accessible entry point that balances structure with experimentation. All supplies are provided, so you can focus on making and enjoy seeing your work come together. Shangri-La-La is a fast-moving new comedy musical inspired by the rise of Siegfried &amp; Roy — with original songs, Vegas glamour, impossible dreams, outrageous costumes, magic, friendship, immigrant reinvention, Steve Wynn, Bugsy Siegel, and just enough tiger danger to keep everyone alert.
Written by Mike Meier &amp; Peter Giambalvo, the show is part showbiz fairy tale, part immigrant dream, part Vegas fever dream — and, yes, inspired by actual events. Unfortunately.
The New York performances are part of the Midtown International Theater Festival and will take place at the American Theatre of Actors in Midtown Manhattan.
