Crossing guard's social media post raises school zone safety concerns (kjzz.com) — Drivers near Boulton Elementary and South Davis Junior High in Bountiful are being urged to slow down after a crossing guard reported a truck striking one of her safety cones and driving off. Longtime neighbors say speeding and close calls have plagued the Orchard Drive and 6200 South intersection for years, and they’re calling for better driver behavior and possibly more police presence around school start and release times.

2. Ogden man sentenced to 4 months in jail for throwing puppies from moving car (ksl.com) — A recent animal cruelty case with ties to Bountiful Pond ended in a four‑month jail sentence for an Ogden man who threw puppies from a moving car and abandoned their mother near the pond. Davis County animal officials say two puppies died, but the surviving puppies and their mother have recovered with community help and are now in new homes.

3. Viewmont boys narrowly finish second at state track finals (davisjournal.com) — Viewmont High’s boys track team from the Bountiful area narrowly missed a 5A state title at BYU, finishing just one point behind West Jordan after the deciding 1600-meter relay. Bountiful High and Woods Cross athletes also earned relay medals, while several Davis and Farmington competitors brought home individual and relay podium finishes in both boys and girls events.

4. 801 Salon No. 44: Sweet but Strident (slugmag.com) — Bountiful art fans may recognize exhibiting artist Maria Samuelson from her past show at Bountiful Davis Art Center, now featured in a new Salt Lake City exhibition. “Sweet but Strident” opens May 23 at Red Flower Studios, pairing Samuelson’s work with pieces by Brooklynn Johnson and a performance by choreographer Halie Bahr exploring evolving ideas of womanhood, memory, and care.
