• School district seeks dismissal of expanded lawsuit over alleged racial bullying at Cedar High (stgeorgeutah.com) — Iron County School District is asking a federal judge to dismiss an expanded lawsuit over alleged racial bullying involving a Cedar High School cheerleader in Cedar City. The district says its investigation couldn’t authenticate the racist text messages, while the student’s family insists technical records back their claims and argue the district showed deliberate indifference; the judge has not yet ruled. 
• Mock gunmen, simulated victims: Inside SUU's active shooter training exercise (stgeorgeutah.com) — Southern Utah University recently hosted a large active-shooter training on campus, bringing together SUU Police, Iron County Metro SWAT and other local agencies to sharpen their coordinated response in Cedar City. Using mock gunmen, simulated victims and strict safety protocols, the multi-phase drills tested room-clearing, medical response and communication, with officials planning additional exercises in other campus buildings.
• Utah parents speak out after teen daughter's killing by 4 men (eastidahonews.com) — A Cedar City couple is speaking publicly about losing their 17-year-old daughter, KayLee Dutton, who was fatally shot after her truck was chased and fired upon near their Iron County home. Three of the four men charged have now been sentenced, and the final defendant is expected to stand trial this summer.
