• Summit County mountaineer dies in avalanche in Nepal's Himalayas (gephardtdaily.com) — A Francis resident and co-founder of Kamas-based Dash Adventures has died after being caught in an avalanche while descending Mount Makalu in Nepal. The experienced mountaineer was climbing with her partner, who survived and confirmed her death. Local outdoor and adventure communities in Francis and Kamas are now mourning the loss of a well-known expedition leader.
