⢠Zion Shores surf community project draws questions about water use (byu.edu) ā A major surf-lagoon community rising in nearby Washington City is drawing scrutiny over its use of brackish groundwater, a hot topic for waterāconscious Southern Utah residents. Hurricane readers may recognize developer Cody Larkin from his Southern Shores boating and surf community here, which helped inspire Zion Shoresā public surf concept. City officials say old water rights limited their ability to block the project, but they negotiated smaller ponds and a ban on city culinary water.

⢠Arrest made in Hurricane auto-pedestrian fatality (gephardtdaily.com) ā Police have arrested a Hurricane man on a negligent homicide charge after a 66-year-old woman was fatally struck while using a marked crosswalk at 700 West and State Street in early May. Investigators say the driver was turning left when the collision occurred, and he was booked into Washington County Jail Monday before being released on his own recognizance.
