UM students study pollution over Salt Lake City (dailyinterlake.com) — Researchers are flying over Salt Lake City this summer to map where ozone‑forming pollution actually concentrates in the valley, aiming to help the city finally meet federal air‑quality standards. University of Montana scientists joined Utah partners in the SLC‑SOS project, braving 100‑degree heat in a cramped research plane to collect detailed data that will guide future pollution‑reduction strategies affecting local residents' health.
   

2. Photo gallery: The hills are alive during Oktoberfest at Snowbird (deseret.com) — Snowbird's Oktoberfest is underway just up Little Cottonwood Canyon from Salt Lake City, running every weekend through Oct. 11 with food, beer, music, and family‑friendly alpine activities. Recent photos capture polka dancing, games like Hammerschlagen, and plenty of pretzels and steins, giving Salt Lake City residents a clear look at what to expect if they head up the canyon.
   

3. UFC 332 main event: Natalia Silva faces Wang Cong for flyweight title (fightmag.com) — Salt Lake City fight fans will see UFC 332 land at the Delta Center on Saturday, October 3, headlined by Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong for the vacant women's flyweight title. The card also features well-known names like Rafael dos Anjos, Marvin Vettori, Johnny Walker, and local favorite Court McGee, promising a stacked night of high-level MMA in downtown.
   

4. U.S. Court of Appeals upholds dismissal of lawsuit against Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claiming misuse of tithing funds (abc4.com) — A federal appeals court has upheld the dismissal of a class-action lawsuit accusing the LDS Church of misleading members about how their tithing funds were used, rejecting arguments tied to a 2019 whistleblower report first covered in Salt Lake City media. Judges ruled the plaintiffs waited too long to sue, saying a reasonably diligent person would have learned of the widely publicized report well before 2023.
