• Lowe's employees give back to their community on Red Vest Day (ksl.com) — A Salt Lake City–area nonprofit, the Family Support Center, just received a $10,000 Lowe's Community Impact Grant that's funding improvement projects at LifeStart Village in nearby Midvale. Lowe's employees spent Red Vest Day working on upgrades for single-parent families recovering from domestic violence and homelessness, a critical boost as more than 400 families remain on the waiting list for housing and support.
   

• Utah cooling costs surpassed yearly average before summer officially ended (fox13now.com) — Salt Lake City has already exceeded its normal annual cooling demand, logging 1,535 cooling degree days by the end of August and pushing estimated air-conditioning costs about $20 above a typical year. If conditions match the 2022 record, Utah households could see average yearly cooling bills climb to roughly $334, with September and October expenses still to come.
