📰 News we're reading

• 3-year college degrees grow more popular in the U.S., saving time and cash. But critics aren't sold (pbs.org) — A growing three-year bachelor's degree trend is taking root at Ensign College in downtown Salt Lake City, where all majors now require fewer credits to help students graduate faster and cheaper. Local students like Giles Sims say the condensed programs ease financial pressure, while national experts debate whether shorter degrees could limit options for graduate school or licensed professions.

• Utah may increase awareness of its laws targeting left-lane loafing violations (ksl.com) — State transportation leaders meeting in Salt Lake City are looking at new ways to crack down on "left-lane loafers," including more signs, overhead messages, and targeted enforcement blitzes. Utah Highway Patrol says better education on when to use the passing lane could cut conflicts between slow drivers and tailgaters and keep freeway traffic moving more smoothly statewide.
