📰 News we're reading
1. 2 more Salt Lake City parks to close for months as they undergo transformations (ksl.com) — Several Salt Lake City parks, including Ida M. Cotten Park and Miller Bird Refuge, are closing for months as part of a major round of upgrades funded largely by an $85 million parks bond. Expect new playgrounds, safer walkways, restored historic masonry, and ecological improvements, but also long-term closures stretching into next year. City officials say smaller parks are moving first because they're easier to get built quickly.

2. 8 U.S. Ski Resorts That Are Surprisingly Close to Major Airports (unofficialnetworks.com) — Salt Lake City takes center stage as the most convenient ski gateway, with its international airport less than 40 miles from Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton, Park City, and Deer Valley. For local residents and visiting skiers alike, that short drive means more time on the slopes and easier winter trip planning compared with other major North American ski hubs.

3. What's new and coming to Temple Square (deseret.com) — Major changes are coming to Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, with new exhibits, children's areas, and immersive "Life of Christ" experiences planned in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Conference Center, and Salt Lake Tabernacle. These attractions will roll out ahead of and during the Salt Lake Temple open house running April 5 to Oct. 1, 2027, with exact opening dates still to be announced.

4. Muralist explains meaning behind new project in Salt Lake City's Japantown (kutv.com) — A massive new mural is rising in Salt Lake City's Japantown, celebrating Japanese American history and the neighborhood's ongoing revitalization. Ogden muralist Cole Eisenhour is using the Japanese art of Kintsugi as inspiration, weaving in notable local Japanese Americans and stories of the area's past.
