Super Bowl Creates Opportunities for Philanthropy
Philanthropy is everywhere and should be treated like our own personal Super Bowl. Created by Ryan Van Wagenen from Cottonwood Heights.
Many of us dream of playing professional sports. Even when we get older, we still think "what if coach would have put me in that high school playoff game" or whatever it may be. If I was going to play a sport professionally, it would definitely be football or basketball. As I'm watching the Super Bowl with friends and family, I can't help but think about how much I would like to have been like the current Tom Brady in the 1990s. It would have been great! I would have set all the records and won all the championships.
Back to reality... Although that can't happen, we can still be the MVP and best philanthropist out there! When it comes to philanthropy, there is an endless amount of opportunity and ways we can help those that are in need. I recently got a note from someone regarding the Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey in the costs of Florida and Houston, Texas areas. Pretty impressive how much the UnitedWay has been able to help the people in these areas. These storms create so much damage and without the help of groups like this and people donating their time and resources, the areas would be devastated. In case you have any interest, please see the UnitedWay link: https://www.unitedway.org/recovery
My wife is always telling me to put opportunities to help get women involved in the area. Women in Comedy is a relatively new opportunity that brings women together and gets them involved in the community. The group in SLC is looking for a chapter president to head event planning. If you have a passion in empowering women to help in the community and you have natural leadership skills, definitely look into the below. The group aims to be women centred and have 3 great events over the course of the year. If you have any interest, click the link to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms

One additional event coming up to look into is The Inn Between's Simple Soup Supper by Jillian Olmsted. Join Jillian and crew for an evening of fun and enjoy different soups made by volunteers and staff. Dress attire is casual and the event will go from 5:30-8:30pm. The group suggests a donation of $10 per person at the door. The proceeds from the event will help keep the INN Between operational. Food will include soups, breads, desserts and beverages. Children are welcome to attend as well!
Date and Time: Tue, March 6, 2018 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM
